Mobile Device Lab with Ghostlab
In our quest to make sure every product is as fantastic as possible, Bowst is now utilizing a mobile device lab— a tool for synchronized web development, inspecting, and testing. Before handing-off a product to our clients for review, or going live, we are able to test and fix any unique mobile issues that are not replicable in emulators. As a result, our quality assurance is now speedier and more efficient because we are able to prevent issues across a wide variety of mobile devices.
How does it work? We use both Browserstack and Ghostlab to make sure that every product works across all mobile platforms, from smart phones to tablets. Browserstack, with the emulated devices and operating systems, is an excellent tool and is super helpful during the development process — emulators are accurate 99% of the time, and let us catch issues in advance. However, there is a huge benefit to testing on an actual device in real time that cannot be downplayed; it’s that benefit and commitment to excellence that caused us to create our own device lab, where we use Ghostlab to launch programs and products on our test devices.
What devices are included in the lab? iPhones. iPads. Androids. Android tablets. You want it? We’ve got it! We are able to test in iOS and Android across a variety of models and make sure that, if there are any pesky, persistent bugs or glitches, they can be eliminated prior to introducing the product to the client. When we test on a live device, we can physically see how the product is working, and if there are glitches present that an emulator would not caught. It is an extra step that we think is vitally important so that we can make sure that the products that we are handing off are pristine.
Mobile devices are everywhere. You probably have one in your pocket, on your desk, or in your backpack right now! It is our priority to make sure that all of the cool stuff that we build meets our client’s needs and will work like a dream on every platform. Testing in a variety of operating systems — both in emulated and real environments — does just that.
